InterAction was a European Volunteering Project run by seven international volunteers for ten months. The main goal of the project was to promote the inclusion of young people into society and help them find ways to use their energy creatively as an answer for the increased number of unemployed and frustrated young Cypriots who feel unproductive on a personal or societal level.
The project’s mission was to organise different leisure time activities, as well as educational activities for young people, to help them find different creative ways to spend their free time. At the same time, the project aimed to help young people learn some new things, such as speaking a new language, getting to know a new culture, and also coming nearer to their own traditions. The volunteers were able to organise activities that helped the Cypriot community to explore their identity and find ways to interact with others. The project involved young people from diverse cultural backgrounds and people with fewer opportunities and contributed to inspiring the local community and its members to become more active citizens, by organising different events and activities. The project also promoted volunteerism, European projects, Erasmus+, and active citizenship towards our volunteers, residents in Cyprus locally, and Europeans through the dissemination of the project activities by our partners.
